The first hospital of Peking University (referred to as "Peking University Hospital") is located in the old imperial city of Beijing. It is the closest hospital to Zhongnanhai. It is a large-scale comprehensive class-A hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research and prevention.
Peking University Hospital, founded in 1915, is the first National Hospital in China and one of the first clinical medical schools in China. Peking University Hospital was formerly approved by the Ministry of education of the Republic of China to set up an affiliated clinic in Beijing Medical College; in 1946, Peking University and Peking University were merged, hence the name "Peking University Hospital"; after that, Peking University and Peking University merged again in 2000, and the hospital was renamed "Peking University First Hospital".
